Hault!

Running is officially halted. As suspected my body can't handle it. I was told by my doctor that it doesn't mean forever but I need to stop for now. Many people with Digestive problems are unable to run because of the strain it puts on your body. (I don't want to go into the graphic story he told me about a runner in a race) So I will give it a couple weeks and try some mild exercises- stretching and mom would like me to try yoga (lol) I am only just over 3 years post surgery but since it is a rather new surgery we are still learning what can and can't be done post op! But I will still get my great pink running shoes next week and will walk in them and hope that by May I will be able to do the Color run! It's so complicated!

waiting on the Dr.

Not much has been going on in the running department! I made the call today to my doctor to see if due to my past surgeries- if running is not good for me! So I'm waiting. I want to feel good after working out but I feel like crap and since most people have not had the same issues afterwards as me, I have to assume it's because my body and digestive system are not like everyone else. I don't have all the organs most people have and it's not all snug as a bug. It's so complicated!

day 15 (wrote on day 16)

So, I'm a day late but I did run yesterday. I did 1.868 miles in 31 minutes- which is not my best but I had to take 2 breaks because I got sick on the treadmill. As much as I don't want to give up I may have to. I need to consult one of my doctors. The day following my workout I am sick to my stomach. Today was no different. I didn't feel well afterwards but it got worse over night. Could it be the flu bug? Yea- but I'm still getting sick after each workout. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my internal organ reconstruction ( and lack of lg. intestines). So I will have to put the work out on hold until I talk to my dr. to decide if running is something I can do. This could be a challenge!

Day 9

Today I did day 3 of my workout. I have struggled to get here because I have been feeling extra sick the day after I run. I was hoping that I was trying to catch something but it seems to be connected to running. I guess I will just have to see how I feel tomorrow.  Tonight's workout did not go well. I have been using our treadmill since I do it rather late. You hook a do-dad to your shirt or pants so if you fall it cuts off. Well my hand it that stupid thing like 3 times. Know what happens when that happens? It starts your time over and your distance- while the app on my ipod is still going. So I had to guestimate my distance tonight based on my mental calculations. I did 1.9 miles and it was a 16 something mile! (I'm in bed so I don't have the exact time.) So week one is complete! I'm proud although I would like to feel better than I do. I thought  I would have so much more energy- not yet. I did notice that my knee is bothering me some when I run. I have previously injured my knee in dance class when I was younger. Can you run with like a support brace? Something to look into! Doing good and have done more than I thought- but I know it's going to be a challenge!

day 4

So I completed day 2 of the training app- man was it more painful today then the last. My sides hurt and I thought I would toss my cookies for sure. I wanted to pause and take a break but pushed through and did the 30 min routine. I survived- but am feeling it now. I did up my speed to a 5 running and 4 walking (the first day was a 4 running and a 3 walking) so I was proud! I completed 1.87 mil today and did a better mil as well ( a 16min and 2 sec mil!) That is better then the last day first day that was 17min and 20 sec. So go me. 8 weeks and 1 day to go to complete my workout plan. Wish me luck!

Day 3

Well today was a dud! I was not feeling super great so nothing was accomplished towards my goal. I spent most of the afternoon in bad sick to my stomach. But what can you really do everyday towards this goal when you are just beginning? I can't run everyday when I'm just starting- right? I do plan to do day 2 on my work out app tomorrow as long as I am feeling better. I am planning on signing up for my run next month!

Days 1 and 2

So I officially started January 1. I put my plan in motion and started- Since I started my blog on day 2 I am going to post the 2 together with hopes of a entry a day!

Day 1 (1/1/13)- Today with the recommendations of friends, I downloaded the app couch to 5k to help me get started. I worked on my ipod (getting new music to make me move and got rid of some that would be less motivating!) I did research on shoes I may like (cheap ones incase- I don't complete my goal!)

Day 2 (1/2/13)- Today I got my running shoes! Well, they are bought and in the box until 1/30/13- My birthday! My mom bought them for me but I have to wait until my birthday! They are a bright orange-pink color. I did start the couch-2-5k today. It's a 30 min day 1 exercise that you walk for like a min. and a half than run a min. You alternate for 20 min (with a 5 min. warm up and 5 min cool down). Surprisingly, the running wasn't so bad. I enjoyed it. My only problem is that I almost fell trying to dance while on the treadmill. But my stats for today are I walked/jogged 1.73 miles and the program estimated I did a 17. something mile. (which sounds horrible and I'm embarrassed) I guess if I ran the whole time it would have been faster. I have 2 more days I have to do this week. The program is suppose to have me 5k ready in 9 weeks.  This may be a challenge!
